Trusting the Process: Embracing the Journey

One of the sign-offs I use in some of my books is “embrace the journey.” For me, this phrase perfectly captures the idea of trusting the process.

What I’ve learned through leadership studies, coaching, art, and life is that there’s always a process to get to where you want to be. The tricky part is that the steps are different for every single person. No one else can define your path—it’s your job to figure out what your steps are and then take them.

That can be really scary. Taking ownership of your life and leading yourself well means letting go of the idea that someone else has all the answers. It means trusting that you’ll discover the next right step as you move forward.

For me, this journey has been so much richer because of the coaching work I’ve done with Rose. Her guidance and support have been invaluable as I’ve learned to lead myself better, refine my voice, and embrace transformation. Through her coaching, I’ve navigated the messy, uncertain processes of discovering who I am, finding my voice, and creating art that inspires others.

Trusting the process doesn’t mean the journey will be easy. It means accepting that the path won’t always be clear, but choosing to take the next step anyway. It means believing that the hard work you’re doing—whether it’s in leadership, creativity, or personal growth—is moving you toward something meaningful, even if you can’t see the full picture yet.

If you’re struggling to trust the process, here’s my advice:

Start small. Focus on the very next step, rather than the entire journey ahead.

Embrace uncertainty. Growth happens in the unknown, and that’s okay.

Find support. Surround yourself with people who encourage you and help you stay grounded.

The process may not always make sense in the moment, but when you look back, you’ll see how each step has brought you closer to the life you want to create.
